The five-year-long murder case of Patrick Gleason, accused of shooting 52-year-old bartender Danny Rios at Izzy's Bar on Theodore Street in Joliet, seems to be approaching a resolution. After firing attorney Chuck Bretz and representing himself for several months, Gleason has now hired the Tomczak Law Group as his new defense counsel. The case has been reassigned due to a conflict of interest with Judge Daniel Rippy, who previously worked with attorney Jeff Tomczak.
Gleason's case has faced several delays, including his attempt to have Rios' body exhumed for further examination, which was rejected by the judge in December. Tomczak Law Group's involvement brings new hope for progress in the case, as the firm has a reputation for taking on challenging cases and working towards their resolution.
Jeff Tomczak, the lead attorney at the Tomczak Law Group, expressed his optimism about the case, saying, "We are looking forward to reviewing the discovery in an attempt to determine how a client who never committed a crime in his life finds himself in this situation. At this point, and for the benefit of all involved, I see no reason this case cannot be concluded this year."
The case has drawn attention in the Joliet community, with many eager to see it resolved and justice served. As the Tomczak Law Group takes on Gleason's defense, it remains to be seen how the case will unfold and what impact their involvement will have on the eventual outcome.
