Joliet, IL – After spending 28 hours in the Will County Jail due to his second domestic violence arrest in seven months, Joliet Police officer Bill Busse was released on Monday night, having posted 10 percent of his $10,000 bail. At Monday's bail hearing, Will County prosecutors requested a $100,000 bail and GPS monitoring for the defendant. However, Joliet criminal defense lawyer Jeff Tomczak asked for a $10,000 bail, which Judge Brian Barrett approved.
Currently, Busse faces six new criminal charges related to his arrest in New Lenox at his ex-wife's residence, including four counts of domestic battery, one count of obstructing an officer, and one count of violating bail/bond. "We anticipate vigorously defending any allegations against my client in this matter," Tomczak stated regarding Busse's case.
